AURORA, Ill., August 2, 2016 — As drivers across Illinois and Indiana try to squeeze in one last summer road trip this month, they’ll benefit from sliding gas prices across the region. Illinois prices are averaging $2.15 and Indiana drivers are paying on average $2.11. These prices represent respective decreases of $.31 and $.08 from just a month ago and a $.50 and $.25 decrease from a year ago.

“The Midwest region is one of the most volatile in the country and refinery issues can affect prices dramatically in short periods of time.” said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA – The Auto Club Group, “Despite these challenges, there is still ample supply which is helping to push prices lower as we head into the last full month of summer. Drivers taking on last summer road trip will enjoy low prices no matter where they’re headed.”
