AAA: Illinois gas prices drop heading into summer months

Aurora, Ill. (June 5, 2017) – Illinois gas prices are dropping heading into the summer driving season. The average price in Illinois for an unleaded gallon of gasoline is $2.42, down $.03 from last month’s and last year’s price per gallon. “Nationally, the demand for gasoline as the summer driving season kicks in has caused an uptick in gas prices,” said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA Chicago. “While Illinois and Indiana prices have been fairly stable, they could follow the national trend and rise in the coming weeks due to higher demand.”
