AURORA, Ill., Nov. 9, 2015 Drivers in Illinois and northern Indiana continue to pay less at the pump this month; Illinois and Indiana drivers are currently paying on average $2.35 and $2.27 respectively for a gallon of regular unleaded. These prices are both about $.15 less than a month ago. AAA estimates that drivers are spending about $275 million less per day on gasoline compared to a year ago.

In October in Illinois, gas prices averaged $2.47, which was down $.06 from September, and     $.79 less than a year ago. In northern Indiana, gas prices averaged $2.41 in October, which was down $.05 from September and down $.71 from October 2014. For both Illinois and Indiana, this was the cheapest monthly average since February 2015.

“While the cost of crude oil has risen which may push prices higher heading into November, we don’t believe that trend will last long,” said Beth Mosher, director of public affairs for AAA Chicago. “With any luck, we could see drivers paying the cheapest gas prices for the upcoming holidays in the last seven years.”
